An Evening in Montmartre

Dancing Girls

Welcome to the Moulin Rouge!  The home of the Bourgeois revolution!  Built on the timeless mantras of Truth, Beauty Freedom and Love, this theâtre spectacular was the home to the beautiful Satine and one of the greatest love stories ever told…

To reach the forbidden pleasures of the infamous Moulin Rouge, guests must first make their way through the street alleys of Montmartre.   Here they encounter some of the many characters that inhabit the unique underworld establishments of the bars and dance halls.  They can stop to have their fortune told – Tarot or Palm readings in the psychic tents,  or take time out for a tattoo to state their allegiance to the ‘Children of the Revolution’ – with attitude!

The incredible tatoo lady, herself fully covered in body tattoos, willingly applies fake tattoos to any part of the body our guests dare to expose.

Once through these gothic back alleys, the atmosphere changes and the underground atmosphere is replaced by a presence of beauty and freedom as they behold the brilliance of the Moulin Rouge.

Complete with working illuminated sails the landmark red windmill is brightly lit and spins alluringly to entice guests inside to experience the physical attractions that lie within.  In the foreground an aerialist swings freely on her trapeze back and forth suspended high above the dance floor.

On arrival guests are offered Absinthe (in the form of a green cocktail) or a beer for the less cultured. Top hats and feather boas are provided to each guest as a momento of their bourgeois evening as they move into the courtyard of the dance hall. This dining space is gaily lit with colourful paper lanterns and decorated with artistic works of the age from the bohemian hero Toulouse Lautrec.

On cue the loud and larger than life Harry Zeidler, host for the evening,  diverts attention to the noisy and colourful arrival of the Diamond Dog dancers who take to the floor in a spectacular show of legs and petticoats!  This performance sets the pace for the rest of the night and guests know they are in for the sensory ride of their life – an evening full of exotic sights and smells; of good food, fabulous entertainment, and wild dancing!

Roving throughout the group are roving magicians who mingle and perform close up magic with a touch of French rudeness. On the outer fringes of this colourful scene, fortune tellers in their tents are kept busy reading tarot cards and crystal balls to the delight of guests – as word gets around and long queues form in anticipation of personal readings…
